Breast uplift, also known as a boob lift, breast lift or a mastopexy is an operation that reshapes your natural breast to create a firmer feel and raise the breast tissue and nipple position.
Over time, skin elasticity and/or breast tissue density can reduce leading to a drooping appearance of the breast tissue, skin and nipple position. A breast lift involves removing some of the loose skin, reshaping the breast tissue to raise its position and elevate the nipple height. A breast lift alone does not change the overall breast volume – it just alters how that natural tissue sits on the chest. Sometimes a breast lift is combined with an implant augmentation in order to increase the fullness and projection of the breast but this is often not required. The augmentation can be performed simultaneously or sometimes as a separate procedure later.
During consultation, Mr Pieri will be able to discuss the best option for you with regards to where the scars will need to be positioned. Often the traditional “inverted T” or anchor shape scar pattern is used but sometimes only a vertical incision is required or even just a scar around the circumference of the nipple or areola area is needed.
